Focus
Growing and learning is a job for everyday. To do this in a way that will be most beneficial, you must focus. Focus on the present, focus on the thoughts you have now, focus on the conversation that you are now having, focus on the task that you are now doing and most of all focus on the true you. Multi-tasking just doesn't do it. You can't focus on many things at once. I know you don't think you have the time to pay so much attention, when you have so many things to do.
A Few Minutes
You can learn to focus. You can train your mind. You are in charge. A few minutes a day will give you the focus you need. A few minutes of meditation every day can help you train your mind to focus. Yes, it only takes a few minutes, five minutes will be a good start, or even two minutes. Yes, you can meditate. Don't think you have to have a blank mind to meditate. You won't totally clear thoughts from your mind, but you will not focus on any thought that comes to you while meditating. Just let the thought run across your mind and disappear.
Meditate
I find first thing in the morning is good for me. Meditation sets up my day in an energetic mode. I sit in my most comfortable chair with my back as straight as possible, feet flat on the floor, and hands relaxed on my lap. I like to say a little prayer of thankfulness and blessing, then I inhale deeply and hold it for about eight seconds and then release all the air from my lungs. I do this three times. Now I sit back, close my eyes and watch my breath in my mind's eye. Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale over and over. Letting go of any thought that might creep in while I inhale and exhale. Do this as long as you are comfortable. In the beginning you may be able to do this for only a minute. I do between ten and twenty minutes and feel relaxed and energized after my meditation. On a very stressful day I may take five minutes to do another meditation.
You Are Special
After a few months you may want to meditate on a word, such as love, health, compassion or even wealth. In time you will find you can focus with total concentration on any task or enjoyment you are doing. Many believe that meditation along with physical exercise and gratitude can rewire your brain. Meditation is a way of celebrating your specialness while being a part of the universe. You are part of the whole universe, yet a singular exceptional being.
All my blessings for you happiness,
